sorry i haven't been on in a while. its been a busy year at work. these are what i have been doing lately 'Gem Trees'. very fun to do and everyone is unique. this first one is in a Bonsai style made from Oregon Sunstone as well as some other orange stones and it is mounted on a chunk of Orange Calcite.

these are 2 of my favorite they are made from Tiger's Eye stones and made into little Zen gardens. the one on the left is mine that i have at my desk at work. the one on the right is one that i made for a co-worker that he gave to his wife for her birthday.

this one i also made for a co-worker and she gave it to her dad for father's day. its made from Oregon Sunstone and has a Thunderegg base that she gave me. it was one that she actually found when she was 12 so it brought back some good memories for her dad.

this is another fun little Zen garden type that i made for my wife. she wanted a tree for her nightstand. this one is made of Rhodonite and has a little Agate elephant in the sand.

this is one of my favorites so far. its a large Smokey Quartz tree mounted on a cluster of Smokey Quartz. it also has an Apache tear (obsidian) with a little pebble path, to give a little garden feeling. it is the largest tree that i have made so far although i still want to make one that's about 3 times larger than this one.

i just got finished making a smaller Bonsai style tree that i used faceted stones on and it looks beautiful. i will have pictures of it up soon as well as another that i am making that looks like a palm tree at the beach. so please come back.

Also, i would be interested in making trees for anyone who would be interested. they cost usually between $30-$60 +S/H. and would take me about 1-2 weeks to make. if you are interested please e-mail me at jarodmyrick@yahoo.com i also have a paypal account that we can use for payment and tracking. thank you.

Here is my most recent projuect. You may recall I got this tree a little while ago, I just finished creating a box for it and filling it in. Unfortunately I made it too large to fit on the shelf we had it sitting on before so now it's sitting on the counter between our kitchen and living room next to some of our other displays. non-the-less it at least turned out how I wanted it to. The style of the box matches with the whole "bonsai" theme and the bears finish it off quite nicely I think.

My wife loves stone animals, particularly bears. These are three bears taht we have picked up in our many ventures to rocks stores and shows.

This first one is a Snowflake Obsidian bear with and Adventurine fish in his mouth. We got him from The Fossil Cartel, a very nice store in the mall across from my work. They have very nice specimen of everything they bring in. We have found some gorgeous pieces from that store.

This is the first bear that we got, we actually found him in a booth at a Christmas show in the Expo center - America's Largest Christmas Bazaar. He is made from White Jade and has a
Green Jade fish in his mouth.

This bear is just one that we picked up at Ed's house of jems. Which is a rock and mineral store not too far from our house. He is made of Red Goldstone.

Here is an updated picture of one of my boxes, we added some real coral for a nice bright contrast and more of an underwater feel to the project.

These are a couple of the nicer faceted stones that we own, the Alexandrite is my favorite because it changes colors in different light as you rotate it. This first one is a Tanzanite.

This one is a Burma Ruby

This one is the Alexandrite, which if you look closely you can kind of see a couple of different shades in there.

This one is a nice large Lapis Lazuli. It's pretty but not my personal favorite, because i have a thing with transparent stones that I like the most.

This is the other Tanzanite that we have, we bought this one first and weren't very happy with the light color so then we bought the other one up top, which is better but we would still like to find a deeper blue one.

These are 2 pictures of the newest member of our collection. It is a beautiful stone tree that I purchased at The Fossil Cartel in Portland, Or. The stones on the tree are Peridot and they are held up by brass wire built on to of a Quartz base. The Fossil Cartel has several diverent variations of this tree but I thought this was the coolest looking one, probably becasue with the green stone it does resemble a real tree the most and my wife loves it just as much. I am in the process of making a little wooden box to place it in as to resemble a pot. Since it reminds us of a Bonzai tree, we wanted to make it really appear of one. I will get new pictures up when I have accomplished this.

These are some nice raw chunks of Lepidolite. The other "raw" forms of it that I have ever found were all like flat sheets, so I was surprised and excited to find these chunks of it. I ordered them as well as my Black Kyanite in my desert themed box from the Best Crystals web site. They not only had a good variety and prices on everything, but when my order arrived I was shocked by the quality and size of the specimen. Each of these are almost palm sized chunks and they only cost, literally, a couple of dollars. The same with the Black Kyanite they are the same size. And I know there was something else exciting that I ordered form them but I can't remember what it was now. Ill have to find my receipt.

This I had to get. Eventhough it's only SALT. the way that it forms is so interesting to me. Although the more things we collect nature amazes me more and more. The fact that nature can create such interesting things is amazing. I was captured by the pyramid shape of this mineral and if you flip it over it's exactly the opposite inside, an inverted pyramid. The only bummer about this one is that it is salt so you can't really handle it or your body oils start to desolve it, so its best just looked at.

This is another little specimine that my wife found in one of our local rock shops. We were intrigued because the tag said that it was rare. we weren't sure how rare so we looked it up in our rock book when we got home. The book never really mentioned it being rare but the fact that the specimen we have is larger and prettier than the one in the book made us feel that it was still a good investment.
