Rock Hound

My wife loves stone animals, particularly bears. These are three bears taht we have picked up in our many ventures to rocks stores and shows.

This first one is a Snowflake Obsidian bear with and Adventurine fish in his mouth. We got him from The Fossil Cartel, a very nice store in the mall across from my work. They have very nice specimen of everything they bring in. We have found some gorgeous pieces from that store.

This is the first bear that we got, we actually found him in a booth at a Christmas show in the Expo center - America's Largest Christmas Bazaar. He is made from White Jade and has a
Green Jade fish in his mouth.

This bear is just one that we picked up at Ed's house of jems. Which is a rock and mineral store not too far from our house. He is made of Red Goldstone.

Here is an updated picture of one of my boxes, we added some real coral for a nice bright contrast and more of an underwater feel to the project.

These are a couple of the nicer faceted stones that we own, the Alexandrite is my favorite because it changes colors in different light as you rotate it. This first one is a Tanzanite.

This one is a Burma Ruby

This one is the Alexandrite, which if you look closely you can kind of see a couple of different shades in there.

This one is a nice large Lapis Lazuli. It's pretty but not my personal favorite, because i have a thing with transparent stones that I like the most.

This is the other Tanzanite that we have, we bought this one first and weren't very happy with the light color so then we bought the other one up top, which is better but we would still like to find a deeper blue one.

These are 2 pictures of the newest member of our collection. It is a beautiful stone tree that I purchased at The Fossil Cartel in Portland, Or. The stones on the tree are Peridot and they are held up by brass wire built on to of a Quartz base. The Fossil Cartel has several diverent variations of this tree but I thought this was the coolest looking one, probably becasue with the green stone it does resemble a real tree the most and my wife loves it just as much. I am in the process of making a little wooden box to place it in as to resemble a pot. Since it reminds us of a Bonzai tree, we wanted to make it really appear of one. I will get new pictures up when I have accomplished this.
